What arrives in the box

  • Engineered lumber, cut to size

    Every board arrives cut to length. Wood kits use Grade 1 Southern Yellow Pine, kiln-dried and pressure-treated so it resists warping, cracking and moisture. Composite kits use a blend of wood fibres and recycled plastics.

    6 x 6 beams carry the load, 2 x 8 joists sit 13 to 14 inches on centre to meet standard deck codes, and 5.5-inch pre-sealed boards finish the surface.

  • Hardware and foundation included

    Galvanized, corrosion-resistant screws and brackets come in the box, along with Tuff Block foundation blocks. There is no separate parts list to source and no trip to the lumber yard.

    The deck is engineered for 15,000+ lbs and ships ready to assemble at 15 to 17 inches off the ground.

  • Instructions built for one person

    A standard power drill is the only tool you need. There is no cutting and no measuring on site.

    Every kit ships with step-by-step instructions and access to the 3D instructional app, which walks you through the build one component at a time.

Over an existing patio

A kit can sit over an existing slab as long as the surface drains and the blocks bear evenly. Kits ship at 15 to 17 inches off the ground; where a slab raises the starting height, shorter footings or a shallow dig under the blocks bring it back down.

    A contractor handles design, materials, permits, foundation, construction and cleanup. It is the right answer for a complex build, and it is the most expensive: you are paying a premium for time and labour, and timelines run to weeks.

  • Build from raw materials

    Buying lumber, hardware and decking separately gives you the lowest upfront cost and the most work. You own the design, the measurements, every cut and the structural layout — typically across several weekends.

  • Use an engineered deck kit

    A-DIY sits between the two. The structural design is already done and the components arrive prepared for assembly, so a standard build takes 8 to 16 hours and costs 30 to 50% less than hiring a contractor.

    Kits ship via LTL ground freight anywhere in the United States, typically arriving within 10 to 14 business days. The carrier contacts you to schedule curbside delivery.

  • Warranty

    Wood kits carry a 5-year structural warranty. Composite kits carry a 25-year warranty that covers the structure as well as staining and fading on the boards.

  • Paying over time
